Less than 50% of Indonesians don't have waste collection service.
Gringgo Trash Tech was established in 2015 with the goal of positively changing the urban waste crisis and the pervasive ocean plastic issue for communities in the fast-developing economies of Asia. It is currently based in Denpasar, Bali, Indonesia.
Gringgo Trash Tech is one of the first Asian organizations to leverage modern internet technology to support the rapid development of sustainable waste management models for local waste collectors and recyclers that can be scaled. Gringgo is the first organization from Southeast Asia to win the Google AI Impact Challenge in 2019.
Gringgo Trash Tech is creating an image recognition tool to help informal-sector trash collectors and independent waste companies increase recycling rates and better integrate with city sanitation programs. This will improve and expand needed community trash collection and significantly help stop ocean plastic pollution at the source.
